About the Real Mercedes-Benz SK

The Mercedes-Benz SK — short for Schwere Klasse, German for "Heavy Class" — was produced from 1988 to 1998 at the Wörth am Rhein plant on the Rhine river, the largest truck factory in the world by output during much of its run. It replaced the long-serving NG (Neue Generation) range and was itself succeeded by the Actros in 1996, with parallel sales until 1998. The SK was offered with OM 401 and OM 442 V-engines in 6, 8, and 10-cylinder displacements, and the Kipper dump variant was a fixture of European construction sites, quarries, and municipal civil-works fleets throughout the 1990s.
